1.Why do you only issue repeat prescriptions in monthly amounts?

The government recommend monthly prescribing to counter drug wastage and to monitor usage. It is estimated that as much as £100 million worth of drugs may be being wasted by collecting drugs and not using them . Locally the doctors have collected over £500 drugs from one persons home. Why do my drugs change manufacturer from month to month?

As above the use of Generic drugs results in massive savings for the NHS Is is estimated that a further £85 Million could be saved if al drugs were issued generically.

2. I've got a tooth abscess - can I see the Doctor, I only need antibiotics?

DENTAL PROBLEMS SHOULD ALWAYS BE SEEN BY A DENTIST.  AN ANTIBIOTIC FROM YOUR DOCTOR MIGHT SEEM LIKE THE EASY ANSWER BUT IT IS OFTEN NOT THE RIGHT ANSWER. If you have a dentist - ring them  otherwise read on..

Appointments are for the same day but they are available both in the mornings and in afternoons.  The service is available 08.00 to 21.30 including weekends and Bank Holidays. Dental access centres are open weekends and on Bank Holidays for a limited time and when you phone you may first speak to a dental nurse who will be able to advise you or arrange an appointment.
